9-month intensive - November 2013-July 2014
You will learn:
Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: Sutra Study, the Eight Limbs of Yoga, and Ayuveda etc.
Anatomy and Physiology:
Both human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc).
Techniques Training in asana, pranayama, chanting, mantra, bandhas, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques including how to teach and practice asanas and guided practice of the techniques themselves. A large emphasis will be on hands-on adjustments and effectively verbalizing what we practice.
Standing, balancing, seated, twists, hip openers, backbends, inversions and restorative poses. Also therapeutic applications of asanas, basic pre-natal yoga and sequencing will be discussed.
Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student's process of learning and business aspects of teaching yoga.
Includes practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing and giving feedback. Also includes assisting students while someone else is teaching.

Our apprenticeship program has been designed for series Ashtanga practioners who want to deepen their yoga practice, their understanding of yoga and develop their teaching and assisting skills in preparation for our teacher training program. Apprenticeship is free, with a one-year commitment to practice at the shala 6-days per week, with monthly or yearly shala fees, and assist in classes, 1x per week for 1-2 years.
