In the four weeks, we will cover Sun Salutation A and B, the power of breath (ujjayi), the standing and closing sequences. We will also include breathing and meditation techniques to compliment your yoga practice. This is an excellent way to begin yoga practice or enhance your understanding of Ashtanga. We will unwind the body while we engage and turn the mind toward the teachings of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. For many of us, the path of Yoga starts with Asanas, or postures. While written thousands of years ago, The Yoga Sutra’s use concise verses to convey messages that are effective even for today’s Yogi. In this evening workshop, we’ll use them as a way to uncover what Yoga is beyond the mat: the guidebook to help us delve into the obstacles on the path of Yoga and how we use our practice to remain peaceful.
